During a residency in the Black Forest in December 2021 I became interested in the sounds hidden inside phonographs and gramophones — the mechanical noise that occurs as a by-product of playing music back. Commissioned by Kunstverein Global Forest for the 50th anniversary of the Deutsches Phonomuseum in St. Georgen. Inside You is built from those recordings, both as they are and transformed by playback through tin can telephones. Sustained tones were made by bowing a turntable platter and using eBows on a zither.
