The binaural birthday song Inside you was commissioned by the Global Forest Kunstverein for the 50th anniversary of the Deutsches Phonomuseum St. Georgen and could be heard in the museum from 4 - 31 December 2022.
During a residency in the Black Forest in December 2021, I developed a fascination for the diverse sounds and noises hidden inside phonographs and gramophones, as quasi by-products of mechanical music playback. The composition Inside you uses recordings of these "running noises" both in their original form as well as transformed by playing them through various tin can telephones. For sustained sounds a turntable platter was bowed and a Zither played with eBows.
