multiplayer concept for real-time composition, instant messenger, mobile phones

Players sit in the same room and communicate only through an instant messenger. A score determines when each of them sends what kind of message: text with playing instructions, voice messages, or calls. Voice messages work as live sampling, calls and group calls as live electronic transformation. The audience is in the group and receives everything on their own phones, which is also where the sound comes from, along with the players'.

Over the course of the piece the phones move from accessory to instrument — packed into a guitar body, laid on the fingerboard, scraped across an instrument — while the instruments are played less and less, until they are no longer used at all. The piece ends on a group call between all the players.
