A score determines when each player sends what kind of message through an instant messenger: text containing playing instructions, voice messages, or calls. Voice messages are used as live samples, while calls and group calls serve as a means of live electronic transformation. If their phone numbers are known, members of the audience as well as people outside the performance can be contacted through calls or voice messages.

Over the course of the piece, the phones gradually shift from accessory to instrument — packed into a guitar body, laid on a fingerboard, scraped across an instrument — while the instruments are played less and less, until they are no longer used at all. The piece ends with all players on a group call.
